The Nohmi Bosai FDK-512B-J optical smoke detector is an exposed mounting type. The detector is designed to be mounted on a deckhead or similiar overhead position. FDK-512B-J consists of a mounting base and the optical smoke detector head.

The optical smoke detectors are inter-changeable with the ionization smoke detectors. This flexibility facilitates formation and alteration of fire detection systems. Sensitivity is adjustable on each detector.
