Interstage coolers are coolers used to cool the compressed gas or vapor between the stages of a multi-stage refrigeration compressor.
The role of the interstage cooler:
- Cool the exhaust of the first-stage compressor to reduce overheating loss;
- Cool the liquid temperature before entering the main expansion mechanism to reduce the throttling loss;
- Since the temperature of the intercooler is reduced and it acts as a static container, it can play the role of oil separation.
